Lighting
performs one basic function, communicate visually with
the drivers - keeping them informed of the status of the
race. Positioning and light design are crucial in order
for drivers to react to changing conditions as quickly
as possible.
Start-finish
line lighting
Start-finish lighting is essential. Drivers need to know
when to start a race and when the race is stopped. It
sounds simple, but the drivers need a reliable and consistent
system. The system automatically switches the lights from
red to green as the timing begins to ensure that as the
drivers pass the start finish line for the first time,
they are detected by the system. This ensures everything
is synchronized and drivers do not false start. Start-finish
lighting can be a simple single red/green traffic light
style unit, or multiple units with F1-style countdown
timers for added excitement.
Pit exit lighting
Pit lighting ensures drivers can enter or leave the
pit lane safely. Different sizes are available.
Caution lighting
Caution lighting around the track ensures drivers are
given enough warning when a racing incident has occurred
on track. These can be switched on by the race control
operator.
Other lighting The system has outputs
to warn the driver when the race is on the final lap,
and also when it is time for all karts to return to
the pits at the end of the race.
